In two days, 29 -30 September 1941, more than 33,000 Jewish people were murdered at Babi Yar, a ravine in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.

The Jewish community sometimes experienced periods of persecution and anti-Semitic discrimination in the form of pogroms and massacres.

Ukrainian partisans supported by German authorities killed about 4,000 Jews in Lvov during this pogrom.
